I. What it is

From idea to screening, in fifteen days

NÓMADE is an intensive independent film workshop in Mendoza, Argentina: from 1 to 15 November 2027, thirty participants form six teams and make six short films, from the first idea to the final screening.

Each team works with the roles of a professional shoot, supported by the workshop's technical crew and by mentors and guest professionals. The genre is open and each short runs up to 15 minutes. There's casting and location scouting, and pre-production starts a month earlier, with four virtual sessions. The winning short receives a one-year distribution award from the distributor ANIOLUZ.

It isn't for beginners: we're looking for craft, a personal point of view and a real wish to work as a team.

A professional standard. Professional film equipment and gear, filming permits, insurance and legal work are all included. No need to bring a camera.

Six teams of five. Each participant chooses up to two head-of-department roles. The first edition is curated, for people with previous work.

Ethics and craft. Informed consent from the people we film, respect for the communities that host us and clear roles within each team.

Is it for you?

It's for you if…

  • You have demonstrable previous work in your role and work to professional standards.
  • You work as a head of department: directing, screenwriting, producing, assistant directing, cinematography, lighting, sound, art direction, costume and make-up, editing, sound or picture post-production, or original score.
  • You want to work in a team and learn from other people's decisions as much as from your own.
  • You can be in Mendoza from 1 to 15 November 2027 and join the four virtual pre-production sessions in October.
  • You speak fluent Spanish and you're excited to film on location, through long days.

Maybe not this time if…

  • You're just starting out: this first edition is for experienced people.
  • You're looking for a self-paced course with no dates or deadlines.
  • You want to shoot a fully defined personal project on your own, without sharing decisions.
  • You can't be in Mendoza for the full fifteen days.

V. Territory

Three territories

Within a few hours of each other, Mendoza has film landscapes that couldn't be more different: the city and the Uco Valley; the volcanic steppe of Malargüe and La Payunia; and the High Andes corridor, with Uspallata, Puente del Inca and Aconcagua Provincial Park. Where each team shoots is decided during scouting.
